Massage Can Help!

Massage is the working of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using various techniques or modalities, to enhance function, aid in the healing process, and promote relaxation and well-being.

I am always learning new modalities and techniques from local therapists and classes, national conferences and videos. Here are a few of the massage modalities that I use:

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the most commonly offered and best-known type of massage. Massage oils are used to facilitate smooth, gliding strokes, kneading, friction, stretching and (sometimes) tapping. Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots.  This is your ‘hurts so good' massage.

Trigger Point Therapy

Specific points of pressure are used, then stretching to relieve the irritated, painful "knots" in a muscle. Pressure is produced by using fingertips, knuckles or elbow directly on the trigger point, followed by stretching the area.

Injury Massage

This modality assists in relieving chronic and acute pain by working on major muscle segments with specific, deep technique to stimulate individual muscle fibers.

***This is the most common modality I use with the key being: SPECIFIC. If you request special attention to an area, I am happy to do that!

Sports Massage

Incorporating massage in your conditioning program has many benefits. It helps you get into good shape faster, and with less stiffness and soreness. It helps you recover faster from heavy workouts, and relieves conditions which may cause injury.

Anyone who stretches their physical limits through movement such as running, cycling, hiking, swimming, dancing, tennis and other racquet sports, strength training and aerobics can benefit from a massage. There are others who do strenuous activities in a day that is not normally classified as exercise. Examples are mothers with small children, gardeners, and others who use their bodies strenuously in their work.

Prenatal Massage

Massage given to pregnant women ONLY IN 2ND AND 3RD TRIMESTERS. Focus is on relaxation, low back pain and gentle foot and leg work to reduce edema. You will be lying on your side comfortably and supported with pillows.

A few others I am adding is CORE Bodywork  and Massage Cupping

I only use Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils for their aromatherapy and healing properties.  I use all natural massage oils and lotions for your massage that suit all skin sensitivities/types  as well as any  food  and allergy sensitivities.  My table is soft and heated as well as having upper body recesses for comfort and to allow better access to the upper back during your massage.  I have relaxing music and an array of contemporary music you may request or feel free to bring your own  iPod if you have something special you would like to hear.  I offer  hydrocollator therapy (moist heat packs at 165 degrees) to help relax sore muscles.
